This is an exploration of analog timekeeping. I am considering a range of mechanisms, interactions, materials, geometries in ideation. Starting from rough hand sketching to digital sketching, I’ve transitioned iteration into Gravity Sketch for final stages of form-giving, and modeled an iteration in rhino to render in keyshot.

This project is currently in progress. The rendering below is a form study, I’m currently prototyping ways to ensure a consistent volume of liquid.

Exploring the materiality of counting down

POTENTIAL DIRECTION: BOWL AND SPOON

These are form explorations for a potential spoon/basin format for an hourglass, which would use liquid instead of sand to measure time. Shown are iterations of the spoon component of the concept. VR sketching has been a useful tool to prototype the scooping and placement movements of the interaction
